We Helped Make History with Floodbuster 1.
We recently had the opportunity to take part in building Floodbuster 1, the very first 3D printed home in the state of Kentucky—and we couldn’t be more proud.
Led by Somerset Community College (SCC), this project brings together advanced construction technology, regional partnerships, and real-world problem solving to tackle some of the toughest housing challenges facing Appalachia. With SCC’s decade of experience in additive manufacturing, Floodbuster 1 was designed to stand up to natural disasters and serve as a model for resilient, affordable housing in flood-prone areas.
This isn’t just a house—it’s a turning point. With support from the USDA and the Appalachian Regional Commission, Floodbuster 1 shows what’s possible when innovation and community come together.
We’re grateful to be part of it—and even more excited for what’s next.
We were fortunate to join an incredible team of partners to help bring Floodbuster 1—Kentucky’s first 3D printed home—to life. This project is a powerful example of what’s possible when innovation, education, and community come together.
